Restaurant, Review

Schweine Janes

Yesterday I went to  Dusseldorf for daytrip with my friend. I’ve been there before with my family but that was long time ago and we’ve only gone to the ESPRIT outlet in Ratingen. So, that didnt count. This time is legit!

Schweine JanesWhile I was still on the train, I had a craving to eat pork knuckle. I mean, the real pork knuckle. So I started to google where can I find the best pork knuckle in Dusseldorf and this place is numero uno on the search list. Once I arrived in Dusseldorf, I decided to go there first and try Schweine Janes for lunch as an authentic local.

The restaurant is located in the city center and its close to the old town, Altstadt. This isn’t a glamorous restaurant so don’t expect that! It’s small, cozy and very casual. A restaurant where locals go and dine. If you want simple honest food cooked well then this place is just perfect. Nothing fancy or pretentious.

Crowd rowdy but all happy and welcoming. Wait for us not as long for as some because we had seated immediately. The service was fast as well, as soon as we were seated, the waitress came with menu and took our drinking order.

Menu

I ordered the grilled pork knuckle (schweinehaxe) with mashed potato and sauerkraut while my friend ordered Wiener Schnietzel with local beer.

Food

The grilled pork knuckle with crackling is 10/10. Huge portion, includes sides for only €12.50. One of the cheapest and the most delicious food ever. I just found one favourite spot in Dusseldorf.
